Randy Taylor Named New Sheridan WYO Rodeo Indian Relay Announcer
Sheridan, WY (June 16, 2026) – The Sheridan WYO Rodeo and World Championship Indian Relay have named Randy Taylor as the new Indian Relay announcer for 2026.
Long-time announcer Kennard Realbird has decided to end his career as the WYO Rodeo Indian Relay announcer, where he presided over the races for the last 27 plus years. Realbird, known nation-wide as the voice of the World Championship Indian Relay, informed and entertained crowds with his knowledge, enthusiasm, and unique sense of humor. Sometimes controversial, Realbird’s passion for the races and the rodeo were always evident. “The growth in popularity of the WYO Rodeo and Indian Relay races are in large part due to Kennard’s contributions. We are forever grateful to Kennard for all his years of service to our event and our community” said Zane Garstad, WYO Rodeo executive director.
Kennard graciously passes the torch to Taylor this summer, with his full blessing as the next generation voice of the WYO Rodeo’s Indian Relay races. “It is truly an honor, and we are excited to become part of the Sheridan WYO Rodeo family. We look forward to an amazing, memorable, and blessed event in 2026,” said Taylor.
Taylor has worked alongside Realbird at many events, and brings extensive experience to the WYO. More than 30 years professional experience and a thorough knowledge of rodeo and Indian relay events means Taylor’s fresh perspective is steeped in real knowledge of the sport. Taylor is a PRCA Gold Card Announcer and in 2025 earned the PRCA Excellence in Broadcast Journalism Award.

Sheridan WYO Rodeo week will take place July 6th – 12th, with four rodeo performances July 8th – 11th, starting at 7:00pm nightly with the World Championship Indian Relay Races.
